Buildings and Energy
Our church is in an urban setting in the heart of Newport and has energy and water supplies. We are following Pathway 1 in the revised Survey.
We are committed to looking for ways to reduce our carbon emissions and energy use in the buildings.
The Methodist Church aspires to becoming a net Zero emissions Church by 2030.
We carried out a Carbon Footprint for the financial year Sep 2023 – Aug 2024 which gave us a baseline for our CO₂ emissions. We have calculated our emissions for September 2024 – August 2025 and have achieved a reduction in CO₂ emissions by 5.62 tonnes over the year.
A Net Zero Carbon Action Plan was approved and its implementation commenced in February 2026.
